Bollman Truss Railroad Bridge

The only surviving bridge of its' type in the country, the Bollman Truss Bridge was built in 1852 by Baltimore engineer Wendel Bollman. The 160 foot structure, which spans the Little Patexent River in Savage, MD, was closed in 1947 and restored in 1983 as part of Savage Park.

Edgar Allen Poe

The grave of Edgar Allen Poe is shown in Baltimore with a bottle of cognac and a rose to mark his birthday. For 60 years the gifts were placed on the grave by a mysterious visitor during the night, sometime between midnight and 5:30 am on his birthday. This year, for the first time since 1949, the mysterious visitor failed to show up. The visitor's identity remains a mystery.

Steelers 40, Colts 14, Plane 3

As if it had gone straight thru the up rites for three points, a single engine aircraft's wreckage rests in the upper tier seats of Baltimore's Memorial Stadium following a December 19, 1976 NFL Playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Colts. Some officials credited the lopsided score of 40 - 14 in Pittsburgh's favor for saving many lives, as most fans had already left the stadium. The pilot was charged with violating plane safety regulations.
