Ohio House

In 1876, the United States Centennial Exhibition was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to commemorate the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Of all the exhibition buildings erected by individual states, only one remains fully intact and operational today.

The Ohio House served as a visitor center during the 1976 Bicentennial, and is now a cafe and eatery.

"Ye Olde Mint"

This undated photograph shows the first United States mint located at Seventh and Sugar Alley (presently Filbert St.) in Philadelphia. It was originally established by Congress in 1792.

Elftreth's Alley

Built in 1702, Philadelphia's Elfreth's Alley, pictured above, is America's oldest street. As the first capital of the United States, Philadelphia is the site of the most historic square mile in all America. Between 1713 and 1811, homes were built along the street, and remain privately owned and occupied today, with one of the structures housing the Elfreth's Alley Museum.

Grace Kelly

Leigh Wiener's photograph of American film actress Grace Kelly outlines her enriched beauty. Born Grace Patricia Kelly in Philadelphia on November 12, 1929, she would enjoy a very successful acting career. That would all change on April 19, 1956 when she married Prince Rainier III of Monaco and became Princess Grace of Monaco. The couple would have three children, Princess Caroline, Prince Albert, and Princess Stephanie. On September 13, 1982, while driving back to Monaco with her daughter Princess Stephanie, Princess Grace suffered a stroke and lost control of her vehicle. While her youngest daughter survived her injuries, Princess Grace of Monaco succumbed at the age of 53.
