In 1909, Sonora Smart Dodd, while listening to a Mother's Day sermon at her local church, conceived the idea of introducing a special day to honor fathers. On June 19, 1910 the first Father's Day was celebrated in Spokane, Washington. While a Bill was introduced by Congress in 1913 about establishing a day to honor fathers, it wasn't until Lyndon B.
